What is Illustration?
This illustration by Noma Bar is showing the oil gains that are to be made from Iraq. This work originally appeared in a magazine to illustrate an article about these oil gains. The intended audience for this work is mainly adults who want to inform themselves about the important goings-on in the world.
The purpose of this illustration is to capture the attention of readers, and tell the viewers a little bit of what this article is about. Its function is to get more people to read the article. Noma created an illustration using digital media that has a simple yet effective design. This makes it possible for the viewer to understand its message even at a glance.
Noma Bar was born and educated in Israel. After graduating from the Bezalel Academy of art and design in 2000, he moved to London to begin his work as a Graphic Designer. He has since created over 550 illustrations for various publications and is enjoying a successful career in London. I chose Noma’s work because I felt that it had a very creative use of negative space with a clean design and strong concept.
